At Wellington Dental Clinic, we prioritize your oral health, including offering durable, natural-looking fillings. A filling is used to restore a tooth affected by decay, preventing further damage. While the materials used for fillings have evolved over time, the goal remains the same: to protect and preserve your tooth.
Older silver amalgam fillings, once commonly used, contain mercury. While they were effective for many years, modern fillings offer improved aesthetics and safety. Today, fillings made from ceramic or resin are commonly used, providing a more natural appearance and durable performance. These materials are considered safe and can last many years, depending on factors such as wear and care.

The dentist will explain each step of the procedure and may also describe the sounds or sensations you might experience during treatment.

After cleaning the cavity, the dentist will place the filling material—usually a composite made from resin and ceramic—into the prepared space.

If a composite resin is used, a special dental curing light will be applied to harden the material. For other types of fillings, such as gold, curing may not be required.

The final step involves polishing and smoothing the treated tooth to ensure the filling fits properly and is comfortable.
